Good digital design book. Free lectures online! This is a good, well organized book on digital design. And the professor has videos online which represent what a decent lecturer would present in class while teaching from this book. These lectures are on Youtube. Search for 'Bill Kleitz'.
The first lecture is 'Sec 1-1 and 2 Digital vs Analog'. Look at the video list for the whole set of lectures.
They are not in order, but very easy to organize. If you want to know what this book is about, these lectures will give you a VERY good idea. It's almost a free version of the book. So, if you have the discipline, you can get a digital design course out of this book plus the lectures for $35 or so. Forget college!:).
Author by: Volnei A. PedroniLanguange: enPublisher by: Morgan KaufmannFormat Available: PDF, ePub, MobiTotal Read: 82Total Download: 179File Size: 47,6 MbDescription: Digital Electronics and Design with VHDL offers a friendly presentation of the fundamental principles and practices of modern digital design. Unlike any other book in this field, transistor-level implementations are also included, which allow the readers to gain a solid understanding of a circuit's real potential and limitations, and to develop a realistic perspective on the practical design of actual integrated circuits. Coverage includes the largest selection available of digital circuits in all categories (combinational, sequential, logical, or arithmetic); and detailed digital design techniques, with a thorough discussion on state-machine modeling for the analysis and design of complex sequential systems. Key technologies used in modern circuits are also described, including Bipolar, MOS, ROM/RAM, and CPLD/FPGA chips, as well as codes and techniques used in data storage and transmission. Designs are illustrated by means of complete, realistic applications using VHDL, where the complete code, comments, and simulation results are included.
This text is ideal for courses in Digital Design, Digital Logic, Digital Electronics, VLSI, and VHDL; and industry practitioners in digital electronics. Comprehensive coverage of fundamental digital concepts and principles, as well as complete, realistic, industry-standard designs Many circuits shown with internal details at the transistor-level, as in real integrated circuits Actual technologies used in state-of-the-art digital circuits presented in conjunction with fundamental concepts and principles Six chapters dedicated to VHDL-based techniques, with all VHDL-based designs synthesized onto CPLD/FPGA chips. Covering both digital systems and VHDL in parallel, this invaluable reference seamlessly integrates digital electronics and systems with their implementation on programmable logic chips using VHDL. It introduces VHDL as a way to study, analyze and implement digital systems particularly through the use of Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Designed to be a broad introduction to the field, the text starts with fundamental concepts and builds upon them to deliver an in-depth treatment of both topics.
Dozens of examples and thousands of lines of VHDL code illustrate both the basics and the intricacies of using VHDL to create digital circuits. Author by: Stephen D. BrownLanguange: enPublisher by: McGraw-Hill ProfessionalFormat Available: PDF, ePub, MobiTotal Read: 65Total Download: 853File Size: 43,8 MbDescription: Fundamentals of Digital Logic With VHDL Design teaches the basic design techniques for logic circuits. It emphasizes the synthesis of circuits and explains how circuits are implemented in real chips. Fundamental concepts are illustrated by using small examples, which are easy to understand. Then, a modular approach is used to show how larger circuits are designed. VHDL is used to demonstrate how the basic building blocks and larger systems are defined in a hardware description language, producing designs that can be implemented with modern CAD tools.
