Asking for myself.Update 3:The Costco setup seems pretty cut and dried and I'll use it for my next vehicle purchase. But as far buying a new car goes, right now, I'm going to pass on that commitment. I got out of a long term commitment in July (paid off the current car ) so I'm going to play the field instead with, drumroll please.swap-a-leaseMighty fine deals out there from only a few months to full-term type stuff. A previous co-worker has done it three times and had a good experience each time. He mentioned that you have two types of 'sellers' on swap-a-lease, rich people who WANT to get out of the lease (typically those with less than a year left) and people who NEED to get out of the lease (as demonstrated by the multi-year terms).Win-win in each case lol.No down payment, no nothing.
Everything can be negotiated and co-worker said that having the 'seller', either type, pay for everything (transfer fee, etc) is quite do-able.Now to determine which BMW I want. Of the vehicles within 500 miles, fully half are BMW, and the other half are every. There.Welcome to Miami/south FloridaThe other idea behind this is to use the money to finally finish my private pilot license certification.Update 2.
View QuoteIt turns out they have no more control of the system than what the website allows people to do. I would have to move up to the Limited package, and even then I only get 'close'.I will have to think about this as the Limited obviously means starting at a higher price. Also, they don't yet actually have 'Costco Pricing' for the 2018 models. Greg F said the price would be 'about 2,500 below this price' (on the printout).Double-hmmmmm.Update 1:I’m at the Costco-recommended dealership right now to see if they can build what I couldn’t on the Jeep website. Bought a Ford Escape through them two years ago. We were eligible for 'employee' pricing through work and their price was a little better plus they threw in a $500 voucher for accessories after we took a survey.
(ETA-Costco had the survey and gave us the voucher. It was just enough to get the rubber floor mats, window vent shades, mud flaps, etc. That we planned to get anyway)Only real problem was the dealer they assigned to us. They were kinda shitty to deal with. We wanted a specific combination of features, color, trim, etc.
And since it was near the end of the year there wasn't a perfect match and the dealer didn't have what we wanted in their inventory. So, instead of pulling the best 3-4 matches nearby, the sales manager kept coming out with info for one particular car. If we rejected that they went back and came out with info for another. Made the process much more of a PITA than it had to be. We came very close to walking out and asking to be assigned to another dealer but ultimately found one that was close enough. We'd do it again but would first ask Costco how they handle it if you don't like the dealer they assign. Also it didn't do anything to stop the finance guy from trying to work his magic. That part was the most snake-oily of the entire transaction. We bought our Explorer through Costco and it was painless.
I recently bought an Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrifoglio, and the nearest Costco Alfa dealer was in IllinoisI ultimately bought via internet sales from a dealer almost 300 miles from my home. It wasn't too bad, took a day of phone tag and texts, then I flew to DFW, Ubered to the dealership, dropped off a check and drove home. On DOT legal racing tires with barely legal tread. In the rain.Even in the rain, the new car makes me grin so hard my face hurts. I dont get those people, but I know they exist.OP tell me more about this lease thing? Does the bank/dealer know about this arrangement? What happens if you default or if they report the car stolen? Sounds shadyThe bank/dealer has to approve the lease transfer. They'll check your credit, etc.
Just as if you were the original lessee.Yep. The new lessee takes on all the conditions of the lease (maintenance, mileage, etc)That’s where all the negotiating comes in. Transfer fee? Another 5k miles? The list can be endless.
My Co worker had one deal where the seller even put on new tires at no cost to close the deal lol.
